About this item:

Mad Mabel: A Novel is a hardcover book featuring the story of Elsie Mabel Fitzpatrick, an eighty-one-year-old woman who has lived on Kenny Lane for sixty years. While known as a curmudgeon who minds the business of others, Elsie conceals a past involving people in her life who met foul ends. Her carefully constructed life is threatened when a curious, talkative young girl moves into the neighborhood and attempts to befriend her, causing secrets from fifty years ago to surface. Written by Sally Hepworth, the novel weaves together the past and present, exploring themes of justice and redemption as it moves toward its conclusion. The narrative examines the idea that little girls and old ladies are rarely suspected of being murderers, questioning who Elsie was in the past and who she is today.
